HELPING AN ESCAPEE.
TWO FARMERS FINED,
CHRISTCHURCH, This Day.
At the Supreme Court to-day two farrmers, Cecil and William Guthris, were charged with having aided William "Herbert Chapman, who had escaped from custody near Ashburton, by giving him food and shelter. Each was "fined £25, in default a month's imprisonment.
The Crown Prosecutor said that the was serious, but the act was not premeditated. —Press Assn.
