HOMESTEADS DESTROYED
HELPERS WANT BIG WAGES,

SYDNEY, This Day.
Besides the destruction of much grass the bush fires have demolished a number of homesteads and some whea't in the Bubbo and Uarrabri districts, but constant vigilance and incessant fighting have so far kept the wheat areas largely intact.
In the Bay district available men refused 30s per day to fight the fires, demanding 5s per hour by day and lfs per hour by night.'—A. and N.Z.
