ILLICIT LIQUOR.
ABNORMAL GROWTH
TRADE DOUBLES ITSELF.
(Received 9.30 a.m.)
SYDNEY, This Day
In giving evidence before the Select Committee a police sergeant, doing special dirty in connection with the illicit sale of liquor said there was an abnormal increase. The traffic had practically doubled itself since 1919. In one city division alone the fines amounted to neatly £6000. Quite; as many sly groggeries remained undiscovered as those found. —A. and N.Z.
