Spoken to by n _ pressman towards the end of the day, the president, Mr R. G. He was thoroughly satisfied and the racing had been good, with close finishes. After the seventh race had been run Mr Hosking ion behalf of the Whangarei .Club, heartily thanked the officials of the Avoivlfde Club for the use of the course and for their kind and courteous assistance with the meeting. Mr Foley (president) replied'for"Avondalc and said they recognised in Whangarei a fellow sports body, otherwise they would not have been there.

At the conclusion of the meeting there was a gathering of officials in the smoke room, when Mr Harry Hayr, the manager of the totalisatbr, was heartily toasted and congratulated upon his management of the machine. Mr Hayr extended thanks in reply and expressed pleasure at the nominations and acceptances. The health of the Avondale officials and other toasts were also heartily honoured.

The only judicial action taken during the meeting was a brief inquiry as to the reason for Stork's fall in the Park Handicap, but it was decided that the occurrence was a pure accident. Mr George Baildon gave every satisfaction as a judge and the close finishes on both days gave him plenty to do. In the great majority of the races the starting wris also highly satisfactory. A pleasing feature of the meeting was the fine music provided by Burnam's professional band. The programme on both days was excellent. Mr B. Harris, the secretary, was assisted by a capable staff, and his department ran without a hitch.

The «lub "did its visitors well" and the hospitality was much appreciated. Speaking-generally, city men axe well pleased with the meeting and it should help the Whangarei Club in more ways than one.
