MAUNGAKARAMEA.

UNDENOMINATIONAL iCHURCH,

A meeting of the church and congregation was held last Friday night with a view to ..try tqr arrange a scheme to raise money for the purpose of getting necessary repairs aad improvements done to the building and paddock. The proceedings partook of a social character, several ladies from the Whangarei Baptist Church Choir contributing items which were very much appreciated. iMr W. H. Gilingham, who presided, said that the church management committee thought it advisable to go in for certain improvements, and would like to have the opinion of those present, also they would like to hear any suggestions as to the heat way to provide the necessary fund. The church building needed painting 1 inside and out,, also the time was not far distant when the present shingle roof would have to be replaced with corrugated iron, or some other suitable material!. As regards the paddock, the front fence needed renewing, and it was further suggested that an attempt be made in the way of beautifying the grounds toy way of planting flowers and shrubs.

After discussion the ladies decide ed to hold sewing classes to prdvide the nucleus for a ibazaar to* be held a few months hence, and the committee was authorised to make all necessary arrangements to bring the scheme to a successful issue.

The following was the programe rendered:—i Pianoforte solo, Mis 3 Whitton; chorus, "Bells of St. Mary's" Baptist Choir; solo, Miss Hall; recitation, Mr C. Thomason; vocal quartette, Misses Lovatt and Miss Winnard and Miss Acteson; violin solo, Mrs Harvey; solo, Miss D. Lovatt; chorus, "The Rose of No Man's Land," Choir; solo, Miss Hall? recitation, MissWinnard; chorus,"The Great Red Dawn," Choir; solo, "My Task," Miss D. Lovatt. -"' INCIDENTAL. The annual meeting of subscribers to the Public Hall, which was to have been held last Saturday, was again postponed owing to the inclement weather.

Messrs Cllucas and Hopkins have sold their farm and will be leaving our district in about a month's time.
