FIREMEN OVERCOME

The fire in the little steamer Manaroa was apparently extinguished about 4 a.m. yesterday. A start was made in the afternoon to get out the cargo by moans of a railway crane.

/fh roe members of the fire brigade were overcome by smoke and fumes. One was ordered to the hospital and the .other two to their homes.

Captain Johnson, who is also the owner, came from Fiji to purchase the boat for the inter-Island trade and just had her refitted for this purpose. The work was completed on Monday.
