OBITUARY.
MR C. NIGHTINGALE
The demise took place at the Auckland District Hospital last evening of Mr Clarence Nightingale, second son of Mr A. E. Nightingale, of Maunu. In his earlier years the deceased gentleman was a pupil at the Kauri and Maunu schools respectively and will be remembered, with affection by many associates of those days. Later h e attended the Ruakura Farm of Instruction, making wool-classing his special objective, and after some subsequent practical experience in shearing he took employment at the Otahuhu freezing works. While engaged there he became a victim to appendicitis and on Sunday last was conveyed to the Auckland hospital, where an imperative operation was performed. Encouraging reports were at first re-, ceived, but evidently a sudden collapse set in later. A brother of deceased who had f been in the "Advocate's" employ paid the supreme sacrifice at the war, and the relatives will b e accorded full sympathy in their second sad loss. The interment of the late Mr Clarence Nightingale will tak e place at the Maunu Cemetery to-morrow, the funeral cortege leaving the Black Bridge at 3 p.m.'
