PRIMARY SCHOOLS MATCH
HORA HORA y CONVENT
This match was played under favourable weather conditions on the Hora Hora ground yesterday, and excited a good deal of enthusiasm. Mr Broomfield satisfied everyone as referee, and the game was evenly contested throughout. Convent won the toss, and elected to play with thei'' backs to the sun, although that orb was not visible to the naked eye..
Convent kept the game down in Hoi-a Hora's half and almost scored. The Hora Hora team then realised that they would have to put forth all their efforts, and di-ove the ball well up into their opponent's twentyfive. After half-time the ball went backwards and forwards with even honours. Towards the end of the gam e North broke through after a hard run, and registered a try for Hora Hora. The kick failed, and soon afterwards the game closed — Hora Hora 3, Convent 0.
Pennie played the best game for Convent, saving well on more than on occasion. North, Robinson and Kernohan played sterling games amongst Hora Hora's pack; Shandley and Tullock also showed up well at times. Amongst the backs Trowern and Tilly were the chief performers, although Broomfield will improve a lot with more experience. * It may be noted that both teams showed greater observance of the rules of the game, and there was less offside play and picking up out of the scrytn than formerly.
