Mr Campbell w°s born in Nova Scotia in the year 1843, being a son of Mr
Donald Campbell, who came to New Zi aland in the good ship Gertiude ahout 2560, and settled in Waipu. Eventually the deceased took up a farm at the Three-mile Bush, and made it his home for life. It is well over 40 years since he purchased the property, and like all the vest of the pioneer settlers he experienced the vicissitudes of hard and prosperous rimes. Having been a progressive and industrious person, Mr Campbell has been ir. a position Io take life comfortably for long years past; nevertheless, he was never an idle man, and preferred to be assisting in the general routine farm work. The deceased married Miss A. McDonald, and of the surviving family there are Mrs D. A. McLean, of Whangarei; Mrs M. McGregor, Whangarei Heads; Mrs S. Worner, Three-mile Bush; and Mr Roderick Campbell. Mrs Campbell predeceased her husband about nine years ago. Mr Campbell's two sons, Alex, and ''Rod," both volunteered their services for the front. Roderick sailed with the Eighth Reinforcements and fortunately went, through the lot and returned home safe and sound. Alex sailed- with the 32nd Reinforcement, and was not long at the front, before he paid the supreme sacrifice for his King and country. The sad news of his death was keenly felt by the family circle, and was the beginniiig of the failing of Mr Campbell's health. The sincercst sympathy of a wide circle of friends is extended to the surviving bereaved relations of Mr .T. B. Campbell in their sad hour of sorrow. The funeral left the homestead at 1 p.m. on Sunday, the 13th inst., when a large number of friends paid their last tribute of respect, the interment taking place at the Kauri cemetery. Rev. McNeur officiated at the graveside.
