KAMO PUPILS' CONCERT.

A VERY SUCCESSFUL EVENT

The real popularity of the concert given in the Kamo Hall last evening Dy pupils of the primary school there, in aid of the Library Funds, is indicated by the fact that some were unable to gain admittance to the crowded hall, and that the takings totalled the considerable sum""of £22 2/6. Mr Gus McKay was chairman.

The programme was a lengthy one of 30 items, all of which were by school children, and the standard attained was surprisingly high, reflecting credit upon Mr J. T. Teesdale and his staff to whose efforts, combined with the special endeavours made by the children performers themselves during the three weeks of rehearsing, the success of the entertainment is equally due.

Among the most popular items were the Nigger Minstrels and a skit song by a dozen boys and an equal number bf girls, entitled: "What -Are Little Boys Made Of?" The "Swinging Song," by a similar number of girls of the upper standards, was very praiseworthy, as also was the Rose Dance. Three Scotch dances by school children who are pupils of Miss Effie McPhee, were very well received, and merited the good reception they had.

Recitations played a prominent part in the programme and were above the average of what might have been expected. Particularly meritorious were: "Not Understood" and "The Teacher's Dream," by Bruce Mackenzie; "A Child's Question," by Rita Teesdale; "Boys' Rights,"' by Bob Mack'-nzi' 1 ; "Somebody's Mother," by Basil Wakelin; and "Firemen and Our Flag," by Eugene Mobberley. Another piece which proved popular was "Bedtime," a pretty tableau with an attractive fairy scene, played by the younger pupils to whom, and to all other performers and promoters must be extended congratulations upon the success of the concert, financially anrj otherwise.
