Yesterday General-Sir Andrew Bussell, in reply to a deputation which waited on him last week, definitely refused to contest the papier seat.
Captain Maxwell, superintendent of the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company, and Captain Bone, superintendent of the New Zealand Shipping Company, arrived in Whangarei yesterday from the Bay of Islands and will be returning , to Auckland by the Manada tomorrow.
