COALMINING CRISIS.
HIKURANGI STOP-WORK MEETING.
ONE AT KIRIPAKA TO-NIGHT.
"GO SLOW," BUT STRIKE UNLIKELY.
As intimated in yesterday's "Advocate" issue, the stop-work meeting of Hikurangi miners duly eventuated last night, but "as the proceedings were closely confidential there is nothing that can be said positively regarding the issue. It may be conjectured, however, with some show of likelihood, that the "go slow" tactics will come into vogue simultaneously throughout on Monday next.
Whether, in the public view, this would be preferable to a strike of the miners, is a moot point, but if not, then the public will welcome an inference based on certain evidences, that a strike is not immediately contemplated.
Reports from Kiripaka indicate that a stop-work meeting on lines similar to the one at Hikurangi is to be held in the former place to-night, and that the same Miners' Union official, will address the men on the present aspects of the position.
