WEDDING.
CARTER—CHADWIN
A wedding which created considerable interest took place in Christ Church, Whangarei, on Wednesday, April 30th, the contracting parties being Mr R. S. Carter, eldest son of Mr W. Carter, of Maunu, and Miss Kathleen Chadwin. third and youngest daughter of Mr W. Chadwin, of Kensington, Whangarei. The bridegroom was supported by Mr Colin McGregor as best man, the bridesmaid being Miss M. Carter, sister of the bridegroom. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a dainty white silk and Georgette tunic effect frock, with th e orthodox veil and orange blossoms, and carried a sheaf of arum lilies, while the bridesmaid was attired in a pale pink frock and wore a black hat, relieved with pink, and carried a bouquet of pink and white chrysanthemums. The wedding cerewas performed by th e Rev. G. C. Cruickshank, vicar of Christ Church.
Judging by the number of spectators assembled in the church, as well as by the. number of friends assembled at the residence of the bride's parents to partake of refreshments and to wish God-speed to the newlymarried couple, it may be concluded that both the bride and bridegroom were very popular in the town and district. Later in the day the happy couple left by train (amidst showers of rice and confetti) for the North, where they are to spend some time, after which they intend settling down in Whangarei. The bride's travelling dress was a smartly tailored black and white check costume, with pretty white hat. and a black fur, which was the present of the bridegroom. Th e wedding presents were very numerous and useful. It is interesting to note that the bridegroom and the best man are both returned soldiers, and were companions in Egypt for two and ahalf years during the war just closed.
