The North Auckland Farmers' Coop, Ltd., held their monthly sale of stock on Wednesday, the 25th inst. There was a good yarding of stock, most of which was sold. TOWAI QUEEN CARNIVAL.

The candidates are Miss Muriel Going (V.M.C.A.), Miss Ethel Brydon and Miss D. Drever (Red Cross). A meeting of the ladies was held on the 25th inst. to organise and arrange the parts of the performers.

A sale of gifts on behalf of, the various candidates took place at the sale of stock, when bulls, cows, fowls, etc. were auctioned, the top price being for a shorthorn bull which was bought at £12. The ladies provided luncheon and afternoon tea for the V.M.C.A. candidate on sale day and netted a fair amount for the funds.

Mr E. Brock has lost 13 out of 19 sheep through dog worrying. The sheep were all bitten on the hind legs. On examination after death the legsappeared to be a mass of jelly,T Three other sheep have fyeen bitten and may have to be only three getting away clear. Mr Hauraki got near enough to give the dog a charge of shot. Mr Hartnell, who is in charge of Mr Phyn's place at Ruapekapeka, shot a dog which was chasing Phyn's sheep. I have not heard if Phyn lost any sheep. On examining the dog which was shot by Mr Hartnell it was found that it had received a previous charge of shot recently.

A good deal of land is being ploughed up for various crops, oats having the largest area. Grass is very backward this season, due to the late frosts.
