Mr J. S. Dickson, M.P., who has arranged to look after Capt. Coates' interest in Kaipara electorate, visited Dargaville and Helensville last week end.

The friends of Mr George Rout, the popular steward of the Kanieri, will be more than pleased to learn that he is recovering from his recent indisposition and may be expected back on his usual run shortly.

The death took place yesterday at the residence of Mr J. Andre, Tikipunga, of Mrs Dawson, relict of Mr J. Dawson, Victoria Valley, who died some two years ago. Mrs Dawson was the eldest daughter of Mr J. McAlister McLeod, of Kauri, and sister of Mrs Angus Finlayson, Kamo, and Mrs Andre. The deceased lady, who had resided with Mr and Mrs Andre off and on for some years past, was 54 years of age. The interment is to take place at the Kauri cemetery to-morrow, the cortege leaving Mr Andre's house at 2 p.m.
