ALAND ISLANDS OCCUPIED.

German troops have landed on the Aland Islands, at the entrance of the Gulf of Bothnia, between the Finnish coast and Sweden, and occupied the group. The Aland Islands compris* * group of 300 1 small islands and rocks at the entrance of the Gulf of Bothnia, opposite Abo, the largest being situated about 25 miles from the Swedish coast. Only 80 of them are inhabited. The population is about 25,000, mostly of Swedish origin. The islands formerly belonged to Sweden, but were taken into Russian possession in 1809.
