WHANGAREI WARDEN'S COURT.
TO-DAY'S SITTING. (Before Mr E. W. Butron, S.M., "**** Warden.) Mr W. A. Carruth, On behalf of A. E. McMahon, applied for protection and a reduction in rent upon a special claim at Puhipuhi. The owner had been away at the front since September, 1915, and the total rent to date paid was £43 ss. The license for the land was issued on January 19, 1915. There were eight in the syndicate and five of the members hold." irig equal 'shares were at the front. A similar application by the same syndicate in the name of Dr. VentrySmith was also made. In view of war conditions the protection was granted and a reduction made in the rent to Is per acre in each case. Other applications were dealt with as follows: —T. L. Knight, residence area, granted; R. J. Eames, prospecting license, Puhipuhi, granted; John Hollows, residence area, granted,. JD. A. McLean, prospecting license, granted; A. T. Brainsby, prospecting icense, granted; Henry Collins, prospecting license, Puhipuhi, granted; John Collins, mineral license, recommended to Minister.
