TENNIS.

SEASON'S PLAY BEGUN

The Mairtown Tennis and Croquet Club commenced the season's play on Saturday last under ideal weather conditions. A large gathering of members and visitors were present, amongst the visitors being the donor of the Club grounds, Mr Robert Mair. A number of members from the Whangarei, Kamo, and Maunu Clubs were also in attendance.

The president, Mr A. F. Thomson, in declaring the lawns open for play, referred to the large number of young members who were joining. The Club had to look for its support to the younger players in these times. A committee of ladies were kept very busy attending to the refreshments. The function was in every way a great success.
