A MURDER CHARGE.

The police have been advised that Patrick Kieiy. aged NO years, was arrested at. Waipawa yesterday on a charge of murdering George Dodds, by cutting his throat on Saturday night. Kiely has lived for some months iv a whare'o'n the bank of the Wai'pawa river. Latterly two middle-aged, casual labourers, George Dodds and James Waiuwright, apparently wandering in search of work, camped near-by. Early yesterday morning Waiuwright reported to the police that the three men had had a friendly chat on Saturday night but, later Kiely came to the other men's hut and rushing at Dodds inflicted fearful injuries upon him '.\iidi a knife, almost -.severing his head from his bod*-. The informant further stated that fife- ohl man attacked him personally, inflicting wounds which, however, are not considered dangerous. The inquest opened this morning and , after formal evidence of indeiitiiication' it was adjourned for a week.
