PERSONAL.
Mr Cyril Collins, Government Auditor, arrived in Whangarei on Saturday night from Marsgonui and is tolay inspecting the books of two of the .•oad hoards contained within the Whao.garei County area. To-morrow Mr Collins will leave for Waipu, and will proceed thence in turn to Maungaturoto and Warkworth. —The Government's recent decision to ec-allocate the control of Native Land Court -judges has given rise to a strong agitation north of Auckland for the retention of Judge Wilson, who has supervision of the area named. The 'changes are due to take place at the end of the present financial year, and ■Jujdge Wilson's new appointment will be- in the Gisborue area, if the decision remains unaltered. Monster petitions are being organised with a view L o asking the Government to vary the ruling as far as Judge Wilson is concerned, so that he may be left in his present appointment. The chief grounds of the appeal are that he gives general satisfaction, that he is '■ntimate with the position in the North, Hid that negotiations in native land would be held up for some twelve ■nonths while any newly appointed iudge was familiarising himself with ill the ramifications of northern native land affairs.
