PARUA BAY.
The second annual meeting of the Parua Bay Women's Guild was held on November 16. During the past year f he friends have been busy and the following articles have been sent to the sick and wounded soldiers at the front: —34 pairs pyjamas, 56 pairs of socks, 5.S pairs of flannel under-pants, 99 flannel under-shirts, 12 flannel bedjackets, 130 knitted face-cloths, 2 caps, 1 calico shirt, also 2 rolls of old linen for hospital use and 8 parcels of magazines for convalescents. One parcel of children 's clothing has been sent for orphans. The A. and P. Show committee gave ns a donation of £25 which helped the funds considerably and the balancesheet shows what can be done in a country place by united effort. The receipts were: balance in hand, £3 2s 10(1; members' subs., £12 12s 'l%d; sale of vegetables, etc., £2 9s lOd; donations, £.'(7; special gifts for soldiers' parcels, £19 12s 6t\: credit balance, 12s fid; total £75 9s 1 l*/£>d. Expenses were: .Flannel, wool, flannelette, etc., £55 17s 5 1 /{>d; to Patriotic League, Auckland, for Soldiers' parcels, £19 12s (id; total, £75 9s IP/jd.
