WINTER'S GRIP.
SETTLING ON THE MOUNTAINS. (Press Assn.—Reed. 8.55 p.m.) ROME, December 3. The "Corriere dclla Sera's" Petrograd correspondent states that General Falkenhayn's forces in the mountains between Transylvania and Moldavia are obliged to assume the defensive owing to the despatch of several divisions thence to assist in the advance through Wallachia.' Operations on a great scale are no longer possible in the Transylvania Alps Owing to the winter conditions.
