SLOWLY CLEARING UP.
GENERAL DISARMAMENT PROPOSED.

LONDON, May 5,
The Dublin situation is slowly clearing up, though desultory firing recommenced on Tuesday night. Jt was, however, quickly suppressed. Firemen are pulling down the burnt ,and shell-shattered houses. Twentysix dead rebels were found is the offices ofUhe "Dublin Express."
The Nationalist Commoners are asking Government to secure the complete disarmament of Ireland, and say the National Volunteers are willing to hand over their arms if the measure is general.
General.Maxwell issued an order today directing the citizens army to surrender all its arms, ammunition and explosives before Saturday. If they refuse they will be severely dealt with.
Sir Matthew Nathan, under-Secretary for Ireland, has resigned. Sir Robert Chalmers, ex-Clovernor of Ceylon, replaces him temporarily.
