QUICK PUNISHMENT.
A MURDERER LYNCHED.
LONDON, August 19.
A New York message describes the lynching of a man named Leo Frank, a wealthy resident of Georgia, who was sentenced to death for the murder of a factory girl named Martha Phegan. The sentence was commuted to imprisonment for life. Frank was removed from gaol by a" band of masked men, taken in a motor car to Marietta, and hanged. The body was maltreated. Intense national feeling is being developed against the lynchers. Mrs Frank has been prostrated. She nursed her husband in the gaoi hospital, where a. fellow-prisoner attempted to cut Frank's throat.
