WOUNDED SOLDIERS' RETURN.

WHANGAREI TANGLE j STRAIGHTENED. j PRIVATE G. MULDROCK'S ARRIVAL. WELCOME TO-MORROW. The tangle respecting the arrival in Whangarei of soldiers from the Willochra last Saturday has been partly straightened, although this is not due to the Defence Department either in Wellington or in Auckland. It appears that the arrivals last Saturday were Private Davidson, of Otaika ,as previously stated, but the other man was from the Far North. His name is not known at th e local defence office. The Mayor of Whangarei (Mr D. W. Jack) has been definitely informed by Mr Muldrock, of Maunu, that his son, Private G. Muldrock, will arrive by the Manaia to-morrow. Private Davidson and his injured fellow traveller received their hurts in Egypt and never saw the Dardanelles. The former was badly kicked by a horse. In regard to the arrival of these two men the Mayor has received the following reply from the Minister of Defence:—"! find that the Auckland Defence office was advised. lam sorry that time did not permit of information being sent on to the local defence office." Apropos, it might be mentioned that the local Defence office when questioned this afternoon were unaware that Private Muldrock was coming home. The Mayor has expressed his intention of meeting Private Muldrock at the railway station in the morning, to welcome him on behalf of the citizens of Whangarei.
