ORIGIN OF OUTBREAK.
The bagging room, in which the fire . originated, was on the top floor of the freezing chambers, which room both by its contents and its construction was perhaps the most inflammable section of the whole works. • The timber.in this part of the building was as dry as tinder and th<-, : department contained piles of cotton 1 goods .for carcase coverings. Freez-f ing. chambers, do not readily lend! themselves.to fire and it is easy to re-: cognise,, as one views the top-storey 1 ruins'now, that if it had not'been for jthe walls of pumice insulation the| whole of the works would now bej a smouldering mass of ruins. I There is no evidence at all to show'j how the; fire occurred. \
