Mr Moriarty who announced himself as an Independent Labour candidatedate, but failed to nominate, stated at a meeting in the Town Hall last night that he had acted with a view to outwitting the other side so as to have a clear run between the two candidates. He had had to stand a lot of jibes from the Liberals because they were not in the joke, but the thing had to be kept quiet. ' AUCKLAND, Dec. 2. Mr. Lawry (Liberal) has retired from the Parnell contest in Mr Sullivan's favour.
