Messrs Dalgety and Company, Limited, report having held their usual fat stock sale at Westfield on Wednesday, May Gth, as under: —

Beef: An average yarding, about one-half of which were cows. Prices for ox beef were higher by about 10/ per head. Cow beef sold .at about last week's rates. Extra choice pens of prime ox sold at up to 32/ per 100; ordinary quality ox 28/ to 29/; cow and heifer beef at equal to 23/ to 26/.

Veal: A large yarding which sold at late r.ates. Heavy runners made up to £ 4 15/; heavy suckers £2 11/ to £3 5/; light do. 2S/ to £ 2 4/; others 4/ to 18/.

Mutton: A small yarding and prices were again 2/ per head higher than last week's. Extra heavy prime? wethers made up to 35/ a; heavy do. 27/ to 32/; light 24/ to 26/; unfinished 20/9 to 23/; extra heavy prime ewes up to 26/9; good do. 21/ to 24/; unfinished 14/ to 18/. ,

Lamb: A small yarding. Extra heavy woolly tegs made up to 26/; extra heavy shorn tegs to 25/; medium weight do. 15/6 to 18/; unfinished'l3/ to 14/6.

Pork: An average yarding. At the beginning of the sale prices were similar to last week's, but dropped towards the end of the sale. Choppers made up to £2. 14/; baconers £ 2 2/ to £ 2 7/; porkers 28/ to 41/; slips 11/ to 12/6. HIDES, SKINS, ETC. Butchers' hides (well flayed and conditioned) stout to 9Jd, medium SJd to 83d, light 8d to B£d, cow (well flayed and conditioned) to BJd, wet conditioned 7id to Bd, dirty scored or sloppy hides at lower rates, damaged and cut 55d to 7id, 43d to 6Jd, kip 7d to Bd, calf (best lines) lOd.good 7id to 9d, cut damaged and meaty 6d to 7d.

Sheepskins: Market firm with keen competition. Dry woolly skins 5/ to 7/6, medium 3/ to 5/, small 1/6 to 3/, dry pelts 1/ to 2/ (according to length of wool), skins with weevil eaten and weather stained pelts at lower .rates, butchers' salted skins (best lines) to 5/3, seconds 3/ to 4/6, lambs' pelts 1/ to 2/. , ,

Tallow: Market firm. Best in shipment casks 28/6, in 4ewt. casks 25/9 to 27/6, seconds 22/ to 24/6, tins 18/ to ,20/, according to quality.

Rough Fat: l£d to 2d. . Cowtails: 1/8 per dozen. Horsehair: Tail 1/6 to 1/10, mixed 1/3 to 1/5, mane 9d to i/.

Bones: Good dry £5 per ton

Wool:'In bags and dumps selling freely, competition being good. Bright cross-bred to 9d," coarse and dingy 7d to Bd, bellies and pieces 5d to. 7d, locks and stained pieces 3d to 4d, lambs ,7d to 9d, crutchings 5d to 6d.
