CHURCH AND THE WORKER.

LONDON, Oct. 2

The attitude of Labour to the Church was referred to by the Bishop of Jarrow (the Rev. Dr. Nicksrmi at yesterday's meeting of the Church Congress.

He said that people would natjrr.lly turn to the source from whic'i the best ideas were derived. Though thero was not active hostility, there was aloofness, and he attributed this to the Church presenting itself too little as life and inspiration.

The Baptist Union at Manchester yesterday passed a resolution to the effect that the labour unrest demanded the earnest attention of the Christian Church. Workers, it was said, should not only have the right to earn a decent living, but such living should be the first charge upon every industry.
