TWO DOMINIONS,
MESSAGES FROM MR MASSEY
AND MR BORDEN
SYDNEY, Oct. 4
I Messages of congratulation on the arrival of the Australian fleet include cables from the Hon. W. F. Massey, Sir Joseph Ward and Mr Borden (Canadian Prime Minister). Mr Massey says: "New Zealand admires and congratulates the Commonwealth on the patriotism and self-sacrifice of its people in assisting the Empire by undertaking so splendid' a contribution to the naval defence of the southern seas. New Zealand looks forward to an early opportunity of welcoming the fleet." Mr Borden says: "Be assured Canada stands shoulder to shoulder with Australia and the other overseas Dominions in its firm resolve to safeguard our common heritage."
Since an early hour a snaky stream of people to outer 'cliffs and foreshores of the harbour have been awaiting the arrival of the ships.
