EARLY AUSTRALIAN HISTORY.
LONDON, Oct. 2. Governor Macquarie's manuscripts are to be auctioned in 'February. They consist, presumably-,*- of unpublished journals of his toifrs in New South Wales and Tasmania. Later. The collection is in twenty-nine lots, which will be' offered firstly as one lot. The first journal covers Macquarie's inspection of the interior of New South Wales in 1810; the second deals with Van Dieman's Land and the planning of Hobart in 1811; the third refers to a tour in new country to the westward of the Blue Mountains in 1815. There are many letters and docu* ments bearing on early history.
