BERLIN, Sept. 6
In connection with the killing of a number of persons at Mulhausen. and the burning of several houses yesterday by an insane teacher named Wagner, it is stated that there was no evidence of mental disturbance until he attempted to fire the town.
He had ignited several barns and houses before being detected.
The villagers attempted to capture Wagner, believing him to be a brigand, as he was wearing a mask, veil and carrying two army revolvers and 250 cartridges.
Wagner quickly fatally shot ten persons apart from his own family and wounded twenty-three others who probably will die. He finally took refuge in a cow-shed where he killed a bullock with his last bullet.
Most of the villagers fled panicstricken, but a few, armed with pitchforks and scythes, cut him down. He was terribly injured, one, of his hands being cut off.

Papers found in his home, showed that he carefully planned the crime. A letter addressed to the Stuttgart newspaper declared that he wished to become the Devil's ally.
The doctors are • unable to detect any evidence of irresponsibility.
A murder wave is passing over Germany and there have been eleveft murders in Berlin alone during tfce past fortnight.
