AMERICAN RAILWAY SMASH.
DEATH ROLL. TWENTY-SIX.
MANGLED REMAINS COVER
TRACK.
NEW YORK, Sept. 3.
In connection with the Newhaven railway smash yesterday, the White Mountain engine cut completely through the last two Pullman cars of the Bar Harbour express, throwing the mangled bodies in all directions.
The track was covered with mutilated remains.
The death roll is definitely stated to be 26.
Defective signalling was the cause of the collision.
