NO COOLIES WANTED. WELLINGTON, Sept. 4. Answering Mr Young (Waikato), ■the Government stated that a Bill to amend the Immigration Restriction Act is at present in preparation, and by its provisions it is intended to re»~st.rict as far as possible the immigration of Hindoos, and coolies to this country. The matter was brought under the notice of the Under-Secre-tary of State for the Colonies during Tiis recent visit to New Zealand. MINERAL OILS. Mr Mander (Marsden), who asked the Minister of Mines whether he will amend the Mine Act of 1911 in the direction of reverting to the position when oils and kerosene were classed as minerals, has been informed that an amendment to the Mining Act will shortly be introduced, when he will have the opportunity of moving in the direction he suggests.
