THE WRECKED DEVON.
CARGO BEING SALVED . By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 3. The Minister of Marine has declined to grant a rehearing of the Devon case. The difficulty in connection with the handling of the Devon's cargo was to a certain extent overcome yesterday. A conference between the parties resulted in a compromise, the men to receive 3/ per hour in the day time and 6/ per hour after 6 o'clock, time to count from leaving the wharf until the return; the shipping company to provide meals. The waterside workers turned to and discharged the cargo already brought alongside the wharf.
