A HARBOUR MYSTERY.
A LAUNCH DISAPPEARS
WELLINGTON, Sept. 1
The police received information late yesterday that a launch had disappeared off Lyall Bay. The details are very vague. The police received the statement by telephone, their informant refusing to give his name. He stated that a launch towing a dinghy was seen approaching from the direction of Houghton Bay. It was observed to disappear and re-ap-pear several times, and finally disappeared. One man later on was washed several times, but regained. The police are unable to corroborate the story in any way.
