Sir' Joseph Ward presided at a meeting of the Liberal Colonial Club last night, at which the Hon. James Allen (New Zealand Minister for Defence and Finance) was the principal guest. Mr. Allen initiated a discussion upon Imperial defence. He said that he did not care . whether the Dominions built a unit or contributed. Dreadnoughts to the Imperial Navy. There must ultimately be an undivided Imperial Navy. Sir Joseph Ward said that he did not agree with the policy of "sectional navies.
