VISIT OF H.M.S. NEW ZEALAND.

AUCKLAND, March 15.
A meeting of citizens convened by the mayor to consider the entertain-. ,ment of the officers and crew of H.M.S. New Zealand resolved that a citizens" ball be given to the officers and the Governor and) the Countess of Liverpool invited. A suggestion was made that the general entertainment be carried on the lines followed during the visit of the American fleet. An executive committee was appointed for that purpose, to include the mayors and chairmen of local bodies, l>; was resolved to ask for special legislation to legalise contributions by public bodies.
