AN IDEAL CITY.
SYDNEY REMODELLING SCHEME,
(Received June 5, 12.10 p.m.) SYDNEY, June 5. The new Lord Mayor, in outlining his policy follows his predecessor's scheme for area resumption and remodelling of Sydney, which must maintain the reputation of becoming an ideal city. He proposes to borrow another two millions for the purpose. He believes that all public services should be municipalised, and that financial benefit thereby derived from trams and ferries should be devoted to improvement of the streets. The City Council should build and lease theatres, which ought to be open on all sides and stand back from the sidewalks, thus obviating queues blocking the traffic.
