NORTHERN DISTRICTS BEATEN.
(Received December 19, 9 a.m.) SYDNEY, Dec. 18. The South African cricketers defeated the Northern Districts fifteen by five wickets, the final position being:— N. Districts, Ist innings 174 S. Africa, Ist innings 253 N. Districts, 2nd innings 175 S. ' Africa, 2nd innings (five wickets) .. .v 98 The chief scorers for South Africa W ere:—Nourse 88, Sinclair 58, Pearse 31, and Faulkner 26. In the Northern Districts second innings Edgar made 60 (not out), Ripon 17, and McLean 17. Nourse bowled in the match 1 wicket for 14; Schwarz, 4 for 65; Sinclair 7 for 98; Commaille, 1 for 7; Faulkner, 6 for 54; Pegler, 9 for 65. South Africa, in the second innings, lost 5 wickets, for 98. Faulkner, not out, 49, was the chief scorer. Morley bowled in the match four wickets for 93; MacNamara, 4 for 70; Ebsworth, 1 for 29; Mathieson, 1 for 20; Faucett, 2 for 20.
