CHIMNEY STRUCK BY LIGHTNING
GISBORNE. Dec. 9
A thunderstorm of brief duration was experienced last evening. A chimney at the Girls' College at Kaiti was struck by lightning and cracked fjcm top to bottom. A large macrocarpa tree was stripped of its bark and set alight.
Thunder occurred again at midday to-day, with a heavy hailstorm at Ormond, where hail lay fully an inch deep.
FEILDING, Dec. 9,
A thunderous hailstorm occurred early this morning over the central portion of the town. Intermittent showers fell during this morning, and there was a severe thunderstorm again a + noon.
