WAR VALUE OF AEROPLANES,
(Received Sept. 21, 5.29 a.m.)
LONDON, Sept. 20
Mr Hilaire Belloe, M.P., in an article in- the. "Daily Express" dealing: with the Picardy manoeuvres, says that every expert is of opinion that the vulnerability of aeroplanes is insufficient to destroy their efficiency. They are practically immuiib from rifle fire, owing to the difficulty of finding the range. A light gun mounted on a motor car followed tho aeroplanes tv/o days at Picardy, but failed to hit one. Reeonnaisance by other aeroplanes must be taken into account. The force possessing superiority would destroy the secrecy of disposition and have the enemy in its hand.
