Railwaymen's Wages Raised
TO AVERT A STRIKE
Received June 25, 10.25 a.m. Ottawa, June 24,
A majority of the Board of Conciliation at Toronto recommend an increase of wages by six per cent, to Canadian-Pcicific conductors and baggagemen, and fifteen per cent, to freightmen ; also an increase in the case of the Canadian Grand Trunk of isf per cent, to conductors, 17 per ~ cent, to brakemen employed eastward of the Detroit and Saint Clair rivers, and 11 per cent, to conductors and brakemen westward of those rivers. The award is likely to avert a strike.
