KAURI GUM MARKET.

The kauri gum market is much steadier, and there is every appearance of a quiet and steady market, at about quotations below. Supplies for 21 days of Nov. are about 538 tons. We quote good ordinary 33/, East Coast 43/.

MR. ALFRED BUCKLAND' S RErORT. At the Haymarket during the past week fodder sold freely, and grain has risen in value. On h'riday last near 150 horses were yarded for sale, and riding horses sold freely, kept their value, ranging up to £12 10/. Active horses, suitable for carriage and bus work, are also in demand, but many of the heavy draughts were withdrawn; those sold ranged from £7 to £20, latter price being given for brood mares of a superior class. At Eemuera, on Thursday, dairy cows, at calving, sold at £3 2/6 to £4 12/6 ; three-year-old steers, £3 ; grown steers, £4 15/; two-year-olds, 35/ to 40/; empty cows, 30/ to 42/ each. Fat cattle in full number, better v worth than last week about 1/6 per lOOlbs., and ranged 12/ for cows to 17/ for best steers. Averages for steers from £7 14/ to £5 8/. Cows brought £4 15/ to £2 10/. Calves in moderate numbers, at lato values.

Sheep also' in" short supply, advanced in prices on best wethers 2/6 each; shorn wethers were' at 13/, wethers in wool up to 13/6. Lambs in less i number than for several weeks, better" worth ,- prices for good quality ranged from 7/ to 12/. Pigs yarded were generally of good quality, and satisfactorily prices obtained.
