AUCKLAND MARKETS.
Auckland, Friday. FLOUR. Some southern brands advanced 10/ during the week, but it is not yet general. Potatoes, southern, 90/, locals 75/ ; very scarce. PRODUCE MARKET. In local produce market prices remain the same as last week. Best dairy butter in abundant supply, at /6 per lb. wholesale, /8 retail. Eggs plentiful, at /6 per dozen wholesale, /8 retail. KAURI GUM MARKET. Kauri gum market firm, but it is believed that the American demand which exists is entirely due to the present low prices, and would cease if prices advance. Supplies for seventeen days of October about 320 tons. We quote fair ordinary 29/ to 30/, best ordinary 31/, East Coast 40/ to 43/. MR. ALFRED BUCKIAND'S REPORT. At the Haymarket during past week. Loose fodder at low values, small loads 6/ to 11/ each, larger ones 1/ to 2/ per cwt. ; chaff, 1/3 to 2/6 per cwt. ; oats, 2/9 ; maize, varying with dryness, 2/6 to 3/ per bushel. Potatoes £4 per ton. On Friday, October 12, the lambs advertised ranged from 6/ to 8/, ewes 12/6 each. Horse stock in full numbers, and at the advance in price lately obtained fully sustained. Useful horses ranged from £8 to £12, and a thorough-bred two-year old colt brought £25. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cattle slow of sale at less values than lately obtained. Prices ranged from 45/ to 80/ ; store cattle in average number, without alteration in values ; fat cattle sold irregularly, 15s lOOIbs was the average price obtained for steers of good quality ; cows and inferior steers 13/ and upwards. Averages for steers ranged £5 5/ lio £6 10/. Fat calves numerous at late values, prices varied with quality from 7/ to 20/ ; sheep in average nvanber, long woolled ewes with lambs at side brought 14/6 a couple; fat wethers in wool 15/ to 18/ each, shorn wethers 11/ to 13/; lambs ranged from 7/ to 12/. A few dairy fed pigs sold well, but coarse bred stores in full number, low values, from 3/ to 8/ each.
