THE OTAGO CENTRAL VOTE.
It is stated that a determined effort is to be made by the Opposition, aided by the Aucklanl members, to strike out the proposed vote on the Public Works Estimates for the construction of the Ofcago Central Railway to Middlemarch. They have a double object in view— the punishing of the member for Dunedin South (Mr Fish) for "ratting" and making the Ministry unpopular in Otago, now that Mr Pyke's Bill has been shelved by their aid. The proposal to strike out the entire vote is meeting with considerable support.
