PARNELL AND THE TIMES.
Dublin, August 21. In an article on the Times charges against Parnell, the Freemans' Journal express the opinion that the action about to be brought in Scotland against the proprietors of the Times is quite valid. The paper goes on to say that the commission should be limited in its enquiry to the definite charges against Parnell, and adds that the clearest evidence will be brought forward at the trial to expose the letters as forgeries.
Sydney, August 22. Conciliation of miners is now regarded as hopeless.
