MAIL SERVICE.
"' l: Wellington, Wednesday. A Cabinet meeting was held today to consider the mail services, but no definite decision was arrived at. All the information was before ttie Cabinet as to 'Frisco direSt, Vancouver, and Brindisi Services., The Home Government are willing to continue a subsidy to Vancouver, but not 'Frisco route. A weekly service, via Brindisi, can be obtained at less than £4000 on postage. In all probability Friday will be devoted to the discussion of the mail services Mr Peacock is still whipping for the 'Frisco service. Government have obtained information as to the cost at which the respective mail serves would be continued, and of the various services. The weekly Bindisi service would be the cheapest. __Jt»i
Helensville, Wednesday. John Murphy, a Wairoa bush cook, committed suicide cv Monday, at Tangarohine, twelve mjles beyond Dargaville, by drowning limself. His body was found in the rivor with a rope fastened from a boat to* his neck. Deceased had been drinking heavily. ■ 9
