CIVIL SERVICE REFORM
Mr R. Thompson has formulated a proposal which will elicit a good, deal of discussion. He asks the Premier whether he will take into consideration the advisability of appointing a commission, to consist of three commercial experts, one elected in Auckland, one in Christchurch, and one in Dunedin, for the purpose of preparing a scheme for the reorganisation of the Civil Service, so as to bring, its cost within the means of the Colony, and fix the salaries of civil servants on a fair and equitable basisj^to enable the House to deal with /the whole question next session. <l
