IN THE GOVERNOR'S BATH.

Mr. Mark Fagan, the breezy Federation, of Labor representative from Reefton, had an amusing experience on his trip from Lyttelton to Wellington on the l Maori. Like most men of healthy instincts he enjoys a bath, and in the morning went to the bathroom with the object of enjoying that luxury. He found himself in an elaborate bathroom, sumptuously scented, and provided with an immense length of bath towelling. Having divested himself of his clothing, Mark Avas preparing to jump into the perfumed water when he heard a voice call on him to come out, as the bath was .a private one. But Mark was not to be done out of bis bath and calmly went through his ablutions to the intense disgust of the. flunkey, who remonstrated with him. Fagan pointed out that he had paid 35s for his bed; and thought he was entitled to a bath, and finally told the flunkey to get—to an indefinite region, where a cold tub would be a luxury indeed. It seems that Mark had got into the vice-regal bath, and being a believer in equality of opportunity saw no reason why he should not use it. All men are pretty much alike with their clothes off, and water is no respecter of persons.
